2021 Inkwell: Palmdale’s Book and Art Festival

I’m excited to be part of the 2021 Inkwell: Palmdale’s Book and Art Festival Virtual Exhibit.

Inkwell: Palmdale’s Book and Art Festival is Saturday, May 1, 2021. Inkwell is a unique opportunity for artists and authors of all ages to display their work, and network with other local artists, authors, and the public. This year’s festival will feature a virtual exhibit, artist webinars, and live paintings. Our mission is to give an outlet for artists in our community to express and share their ideas with other like-minded individuals. Art serves to enrich the physical, economic, social and cultural elements of a community.

REMEMBERING MY LIFE HERO

Hard to believe it has been five years already. This June also marks five years since my dad passed on your birthday. Your music has been intertwined in every area of my life journey, it is therapeutic, thought provoking and most of all healing. Thanks, Prince, for your continued inspiration with my creative process daily.

To honor you today, I decided to experiment and create a tribute piece in a different style than my usual one. I drew inspiration from Diamonds and Pearls album, animation, Art Deco, and Alphonse Mucha for design of this tribute piece.

LETTERING ISSUE 3 OF MY INDIE COMIC BOOK

Working on lettering issue #3 of Twisted Fate Story featured in my indie comic magazine Unique Realm Illustrated. To knock out the lettering stage of my book I’m using Adobe Illustrator.

FINISHED BOBA FETT SKETCH COVER

Here is the finished Bounty Hunters Sketch Cover featuring Boba Fett

There wasn’t much left to paint so finishing this cover up went fast. I painted the leather belt areas first and then painted the metal ammunition cells to complete this sketch cover.

I started this stage by outlining the top belt area with Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pens. Then I painted in each section working right to left and continued until all the small areas were complete.

I started this stage by outlining the chest armor and cloth area with Faber-Castell PITT Artist Pens. Then I painted in the bottom area black. Next I painted the vest area in with a flat gray base color. From there I painted in the folds by building up layers of mind tones and dark tones with dry brush technique. To complete this stage I went in and add highlights to the vest area.

BOBA FETT SKETCH COVER WIP04

I started by outlining the arm, shoulder armor, gauntlet armor, blaster, and lower back armor with Faber-Castell PITT artist pens. Then I painted the all the black cloth area and glove. Next I painted the orange shoulder armor area and the maroon gauntlet. From there I added the gray worn areas to both. With those areas finished up I painted the all the hoses. Lastly I painted the blaster.

To this WIP, I painted the back armor green areas and added all the worn look throughout.

BOBA FETT SKETCH COVER WIP03

Here is WIP03 for Bounty Hunters Sketch Cover featuring Boba Fett

I started this stage by outlining the jet pack with Faber-Castell PITT artist pens. Then I started painting on the middle green section of the rocket along with the silver and orange areas. With those areas finished I moved to painting the top green and silver areas. From there I moved to the maroon, orange and silver parts to finish this area.

From there I moved to the painting the large rusted aqua green area. Then I painted the silver rusted and worn areas and moved to painting the bottom of the rocket. I achieved the worn look by building up layers by going back and forth slowly until I got the look I wanted to achieve.

BOBA FETT SKETCH COVER WIP02

Here is WIP02 for Bounty Hunters Sketch Cover featuring Boba Fett

I started by outlining the helmet area with Faber-Castell PITT artist pens. Next up I started painting the top green of the helmet first and then moved on to painting the scratches & dents.

From there I painted the viewplate. With the viewplate done, I then painted the maroon area of the visor and then the scratched up areas. Next, I painted the green lower section of the the helmet and then the dents & scratches. Lastly came time to paint the side silver areas and the rangefinder to finish this stage.
